The AVKJV is the only modern day version that I know of that does not have a copyright on the actual text of what is called God's word. What that means is that you can put a AVKJV on the copier or copy the verses into your computer and print to your hearts desire and pass it out to whoever you want and you are not breaking a law of the United States Government. It is God's word and it is free to use (Or abuse) in any way you wish. There is no copyright on it. IT IS GOD'S WORD AND IS FREE TO ALL TO USE.
The United States Government gives out what is called a copyright to people who have DISTINCT works that are original and can be proved that they belong to the author. The purpose for this is to allow the author the right to HIS copy. This is being done to allow them to make money on their work. This is an admission by the Government that these men are the actual authors of these works.

The niv is copyrighted by Zondervan Publications and Zondervan Publications is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Mr. Murdoch owns substantial amounts of Fox TV which has repeatedly poked fun at Christians. He also owns pornographic magazines. Why would a man like this want to own a Christian organization and what is referred to as a Bible? It is a money maker. Gods word specifically states that we are not to use his word or the things of God for our own profit.
I Corinthians 9:18, Acts 8:18-20
This does not mean that you can not receive profit for labor done such as printing and binding Bibles, etc. But this is talking about a worldly attitude of money. It also does not mean that you can not receive love gifts for your ministry. It is talking about requiring it to give the Gospel. This is not talking about writing books for your ministry. I believe it is specifically talking about God's word. If these men were to write concordances or commentaries on the Bible I would not have a problem with it because that is an admission that it is their words. But Writing Bibles is much more profitable and that is why these men do so.
Dr. Roy Thompson once shared with me that the King James Bible used to be called the Peoples Bible. That is because King James knew that no one person or entity could own God's word. As a result King James gave the RIGHT TO THE COPY to the people. That is why it used to be called the Peoples Bible. Would to God we take that attitude today that it is truly God's word.
